Welcome to the School Effectiveness Framework events website.
In October 2009, a series of conferences will be staged jointly by DCELLS and Estyn which will set out the Welsh Assembly Government’s new policy for all schools in Wales – the School Effectiveness Framework.
They will take place as follows:
8 October - Venue Cymru, Llandudno
13 October - SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff
15 October - Parkway Hotel, Cwmbran
The Framework was launched in February 2008 by the Minister for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills, and is the overarching policy which brings coherence to all work aimed at improving the education and wellbeing of our school-aged learners in Wales. It was piloted with almost 100 schools in Wales last year, and has since been independently evaluated and has received input from all key stakeholders.
The SEF will be rolled out across Wales in September 2010, and next month’s conferences will explain what the it means for the future of the education community in Wales, and how the Estyn 2010 Common Inspection Framework will align with it.
Workshops will explore topics including pupil participation, how the SEF will address social disadvantage and underachievement and how continual professional development could support practitioners more effectively.
The conferences will provide vital information which all schools will need to know in order to plan effectively for the new Framework, so attendance is highly recommended.
